Higino Andrade Wins 2026 Artistic Creation Grant
Funchal Cultura
"José Higino Andrade, winner of the 2026 Artistic Creation Grants awarded by Funchal City Council in the Performing Arts category, with the project “Projeto Laura – Sound Cartography, Laurissilva, Landscapes and Communities”.
Taking Madeira’s Laurissilva forest as its conceptual, symbolic and sonic starting point, the project proposes the creation of an original music album inspired by the island’s diverse landscapes, from the peaks of Madeira to its streams, from the coastline to the sea and its local communities.
Through an interdisciplinary approach combining music, photography and installation, the project seeks to translate Madeira’s natural and cultural identity into sound, fostering new forms of connection between art, territory and community."
